Geometry, Shapes and Measure

Geometry is the branch of Mathematics that comprises of concepts such as sizes of shapes, distance lengths and angle sizes.

Geometry can be divided into two main parts.

We have “PLANE GEOMETRY” that deals with flat 2D shapes. Lines, curves, squares and other shapes that we can draw on paper.

Added to that there is also “SOLID GEOMETRY”, where 3D objects and shapes are the main focus. We see shapes such as cuboids, spheres and cylinders.

As we begin to study Geometry we learn how to find the area, volume and perimeter of shapes a range of different shape types.
The applications of Geometry to the real world are many, making it an extremely interesting and enjoyable subject.
